ABOUT US
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Wayne Beck, I am in my late 40’s and I was born and raised in Derby. I am the owner of The Pest Master, we are a family run business and not a franchise. We cover Derby, as well as offering pest control in Burton, Birmingham, Leicester, Staffordshire and Nottingham and the surrounding areas in between.
I first started in the pest control business over 25 years ago where I was working for both small companies and large national companies, gathering a good understanding of the pest control industry and the business side of things as well.
I am a very enthusiastic and happy person with a great personality and I am very easy to get on with. My hobbies include, in my spare time I like to go jet skiing in Cornwall plus Scuba Diving and Horses.
I am a proud family man. I have been with my beautiful wife Sarah for over 27 years, we have a teenage daughter, a dog called Blue and four horses Scooby, Nelson, and two babies called Ivy and Fred (named after my grandparents).
Family is very important to me, especially my Grandparents Ivy and Fred who have played a big part in my life, they were always extremely supportive and very proud of what we have achieved. Sadly, my Grandparents are no longer with us, although it is very sad for me it has made me focus more on what made them so proud of me. Some of the things they taught me was to always be respectful, kind and honest and that is what I base my business on. Last year was a very difficult year for us as a family after sadly losing my Father. My Father had a very strong work ethic much like myself and had worked for Rolls Royce for almost 50 years as did my Grandad before him.
Being in the industry for such a long time I have gained a wealth of knowledge and we are extremely proud of our qualifications and groups that we are affiliated with. We are fully qualified in Pest Management.
Our qualifications are:
I have taken all three modules in the RSPH Level 2 award in Pest Management. May I say that this course is extremely in depth and at the end of the course you have to complete and pass a written exam in all modules. The modules included Vertebrates, Invertebrates and Legislation, which covered acts of parliament, health and safety, safe handling and storage of pesticides and rodenticides and the latest laws, wildlife and countryside acts.
Principles of Rodent Control, Principles of Insect Control, The Safe use and storage of Pesticides
I attended and passed a specialised course in Bedbugs with some of the leading experts in America. The course was called Killing Bedbugs Using Science.
I have also taken and passed a specialised course in wasp nest removal, where I learned all about the biology and behaviour of Wasps. This makes me one of the leading wasp experts in our area.
I have a Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification.
Holding all the above qualifications ensures that you are using a company that follow the highest of standards.
For the forth year running we have been voted Derby’s number one pest control company by Three Best Rated where we have had to pass a 50 point check, this is done through our customers and not through ourselves. It really goes to prove the expertise and trustworthiness of our business to have gained such an achievement.
We again are extremely proud to be placed as Derby’s number ONE!
