PEST CLEAN DOWN SERVICE

Pest Clean-up Services, Derby

Have you recently had a problem with rodents? Did you know rats and mice spread disease? The most common disease is Leptospirosis (otherwise known as Weil's disease)

What is Weil's disease?

Leptospirosis is most commonly spread in the urine of infected animals – most commonly rats and mice, Rats and mice have notoriously weak bladders. Any surface they have walked on will more than likely have a trail of urine on it. Weil's disease is a severe form of leptospirosis. This is a type of bacterial infection, caused by Leptospira bacteria.

Leptospirosis typically causes mild flu-like symptoms, such as headache and chills. If the bacteria infect some specific organs, there may be a more severe reaction. These organs include:

  • liver
  • kidneys
  • lungs
  • heart
  • brain

This reaction is known as Weil's disease. In extremely rare cases, it can lead to organ failure and death.

Did you also know …

  • Evidence of Hantavirus infection has been found in UK commensal rodents (rats and mice).
  • Hantavirus can lead to haemorrhagic fever in humans and is believed to be contracted by contact with or inhalation of dust from rodent droppings or urine.
  • Leptospira spp, which cause Leptospirosis (a.k.a. Weil's disease) are carried by 14% of rats and 80% of mice.
  • Salmonella spp can survive in rat faeces for up to 86 days!
  • E. coli has been recovered from rodent faeces for over 36 weeks!

DISINFECTING AND SANITISING

Here at The Pest Master we offer the use of an industrial strength disinfectant, following rodent treatments. Our disinfectant treatment is used throughout your property using an Exodus Fumigation machine. This treatment uses liquid biocide for space-spray (ULV) application. Effective against bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Specially formulated for use in human dwelling situations where rodent infestations have been present and pose a risk. Also for use in kennels, catteries, stables, poultry houses, trashed/flooded dwellings, drug users' habitats and other situations where biohazard risk has been identified.

Sanitisation in terms of disinfection is extremely important following any rodent infestation in order to protect human health by controlling rodent-borne diseases, such as Leptospriosis, Hantavirus, E. coli and Salmonella spp.

STEAM CLEANING

The Pest Master also offers a steam cleaning service. A non-chemical, non-contact, eco-friendly solution for the elimination of germs. Steam cleaning kills 99.99% of bacteria and doesn't require the use of toxic and potentially harmful chemicals such as bleach or ammonia. Only heat and water are used, meaning your house remains free from chemical residue and pollution. Ideal for use as part of the sanitisation process. It is both Child & Pet Friendly: The non-toxic nature of steam cleaning makes your home a much safer environment for children and pets.

It is also a great alternative for people with allergies and asthma, you may benefit significantly from steam cleaning. It uses only water and heat to create an all-natural steam that removes dirt and grime, therefore, it won't aggravate allergy symptoms or cause respiratory issues. Our steamer is not a standard run of the mill unit. Conventional steamers heat the water to around 100 degrees and by the time the steam comes out of the nozzle it is typically around 80 degrees. This isn't hot enough to do the job. However, our Cimex Eradicator heats up to 180 degrees and also has a heated nozzle ensuring a constant temperature of around 160-180 degrees meaning whatever the steam hits it kills!

"We had a bed bug problem in my sons bed. I phoned the pest master up. A very polite friendly chap came out the same day an sorted it out for us there an then. The price he quoted was the price we paid. He even phoned me a few days later to see if everything was ok now, which I thought was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend them."
